Born and raised in Salzburg, Austria she attended the College for Wood- and Stone Sculpture in Hallein (1995-1999). After graduation she moved to Vienna, Austria, to attend the Master Class for Industrial Design under Professor Paolo Piva at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, Austria. During her time at the design school she completed an exchange semester at HDK Göteborg, Sweden and took part in various school group exhibitions and competitions. She graduated in 2005 as Master of Industrial Design. Subsequently Sofie worked self-employed in Austria and Sweden as designer and illustrator. In 2011 she moved to the United States to attend grad school for Urban & Regional Planning at the University of New Orleans (2011-2013). She lived, studied, and worked in Louisiana for 4 years and still frequently returns to New Orleans to get inspired for her artwork.
Since her return to Vienna in 2015 Sofie has focused her work on illustration and print-graphics. The work with blockprint, for her, is a return to her roots, as she was trained in woodcarving and print during her time at the sculptor school in Hallein.
